Recomendation

A book i would definitely recommend is Someone Else's life.

This book is filled with surprises that will keep you on the edge of your seat.  The book starts with Rosie grieving for her dead mother. Her mind is filled with worry that the same thing that killed her mother, Huntington , will kill her also. Rosie has a 50% chance of inheriting this disease. Right before she gets the results from the doctor, Rosie is devastated to find out she is not her mothers biological daughter. A family friend had switched 2 babies because she thought one was not going to survive.This book has many different plot twists so if that's what you are looking for in a book, this will be great for you. Rosie and her boyfriend go traveling on their gap year and unexpectedly come upon Rosie's real mother. The famous Kat.

This book is great for anyone who likes a little mystery or suspense. Out of 10 i would rate it an 8.5. This book also has a wonderful theme:Family isnt always related by blood, as long as love is present in the relationship.

Reading Skills

Currently I have been reading the book "Someone Else's Life" By Katie Dale.

This book started with a teenager who thinks she has inherited Huntington's disease from her mom. Later on in the book we find out that her "mom" was not in fact her biological mom. Rosie is utterly devastated to discover that she was switched at birth. The story progresses to Rosie setting out on a journey to find her real parents and the baby she was switched with. Towards the conclusion, Rosie is met with an onerous choice that will ultimately decide her fate.

A text by text connection i have made has to do with a similar quote I found in 2 separate novels. The quote is originally form William Shakespeare's, "Romeo and Juliet"

I think this quote really strengthens both novels, even though they are on completely different subjects. A text to world connection i would like to make is to the t.v. show "Switched At Birth". The show talks about a similar circumstance where 2 babies were switched at birth and eventually find each other in the end. Which is the main outcome of both of these stories.One of them is blind, which also relates back to the girl with Huntington's. Lastly i would like to make a text- to self connection to this book. Rosie takes a trip to New York to find her mother, and i have also been to NY. Rosie and i find that it is a interesting place,brimming with life. A specific quote from pg.98,

"The ground is sprinkled with snow but the sky is a brilliant blue as we finally land in New York."Both of us have taken the ferry across the water to the island to see the statue of Liberty. Rosie says,"I gaze up at the massive green lady,her torch held high above the lights of Manhattan. The view of the city shooting like rockets up into the blue,blue sky,the air crisp and clear, the waves sparkling far below. What a sight to greet all the immigrants about to start a new life in the Land of Opportunity."

 When i saw the statue, i was thinking something along the same lines.

A prediction i would like to make is that , will find a way to live with her step sister and her real father. Also, i think she will confront her grandmother about this issue.A question i would like to ask is why did Kitty run away from Rosie? Why did she not want a baby at that time, but she wants one now that she is famous? Another question is did Rosies grandmother always know that Rosie was not in fact blood related to her?

               When A was first introduced, I had a negative connation about him. This was because he starts with telling the reader that he lives in a different body every day. That made me wonder did he kill the real person? Later on in the novel I realized, that A had no control over anything. I think if A could stop the body switching, he would. Then, I began to feel bad for A because he only had one day. He was moving around in all these bodies, but he never could stay longer. He could never live in the same house, talk to the same people, wear the same clothes again. The fact that A never wanted to harm anyone made me change my mind about him. He made sure he did exactly what they would do, so no one would suspect a thing.

Characters

There are two main characters in Every Day By Davd Levithan.

The first one is A. A floats from one body to the next. Every night at exactly midnight, he is plucked out of his current body and into a new one. A falls in love with Rianhhon, a girl he met. Over the course of the whole book A can't stop thinking about her. Interaction as little as possible has become one of his mottos. He rarly tries to mess with other's lives. But with Riahhon, he makes an exception.

The second main character would be Riahannon. Riahannon attends the local high school and has a boyfriend named Justin. Much like a typical teenager. But when she meets A, her life flips upside down. She cant deny that she and A have a spark. But she also cant accept it. Riannhon feels very overwhelmed by A's problem, and she is not able to come to terms with it.She feels it is really complicated and she and A can never be together .But truly, deep down she wants to be with A.  Towards other people Riannhon is very closed off. Riahannon opens up to her friends and A. More towards the end of the book I can say that she becomes more open.

Another theme for this book might be, love has no limitations. I would say this because Riahannon loves A no matter what body he may be in.

Theme and Summary

This week I started reading Every day, by Davis Levithan. 

I would say one of the central ideas this book revolves around is diversity. The main character ,A, takes over bodies of different teenagers everyday. Every single person was unique. They thought and acted differently. One was a star athlete, another was a girl wrestling with drug addiction. There was a teenager struggling with his weight problems. Another person was the formidable school bully. I think this book really showed all the different types of people out there. Also, It showed me that some people deal with a lot of stuff, even if they don't show it. 

Day 6025:

In this chapter A talks about the boy who was having a hard time with his weight. Finn Taylor weighs 300 pounds and every day is a challenge for him. It takes him so much energy to walk or even drive a car. when Finn gets to school it gets worse. All the kids and teachers treat him like an outsider, they dont want to get near him. They almost treat him like he is contagious. Because of this and the sheer willpower and strength it takes to function, Fin feels like giving up.
